April 9th, 2014

Easter Veg Grant CochraneMia Francesca Trattoria has always offered wonderful weekend and holiday brunches in North Hills Midtown Raleigh. We want to share that one of the best times for brunch is fast approaching on Easter Sunday, April 20th!

We always want friends and family to enjoy great choices in one sitting that offer culinary excellence in a rustic atmosphere right in the heart of North Hills. In fact, we want you to visit every weekend. You can count on our Northern Italian traditions!

Our unique brunch has recently been featured in the recent Saturday March 29, 2014 eatRaleigh Blog.  The local dining post discusses the fact that the Mia Francesca Brunch is its “favorite meal of the week”. When describing our eclectic array of selections, eatRaleigh writes, “Par for the course with their portion sizes, Mia Francesca’s brunch menu is massive. Not only is there an entire page of entrees to choose from, but the menu also includes a long list of brunch appetizer options.”

One of the weekend brunch favorites, Eggs Amatriciana Al Forno features baked eggs with pancetta, Spanish onions, tomato basil sauce, grilled ciabatta bread, and shaved pecorino tartufo. “The Amatriciana is the type of dish that Mia Francesca hangs their hat on, rustic and homey.  It was all of that plus filling and comforting.”

Our authentic Arancini Benedict comes with crispy risotto, soft poached eggs, basil hollandaise, prosciutto di parma, and house fried potatoes. eatRaleigh writes, “Plump crispy risotto cakes replace the typical English muffins with creamy risotto in the middle, the hollandaise sauce, and egg yolk, it was Scrooge Mc Duck rich.”  We think so, too.

eatRaleigh finishes its review of our brunch experience with an accurate description of our guests: “For the Sunday morning meal where hipsters and church-goers meet, Mia Francesca serves as another solid option for the Midtown faithful.”

Remember our Easter Brunch and Lunch happens this Easter Sunday, April 20th.

The Easter holiday traditions are all about family, friends and great food, so bring your favorite people and the little ones to join us at our table. Don’t let this special weekend pass without our Easter Brunch Raleigh experience!

The Tuscany Region has always been one of the finest wine producing areas in both Italy and the world.  The Tuscany growers are among the most modernized in the world.  The popular wines produced here include: Chianti, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Morellino di Scansano and Brunello di Montalcino.

Mia Francesca Trattoria offers the finest Italian red and white wines that come from this elite Italian wine region that is known for both rarity and quality.

Here are four additional classic Italian wines we serve:

Pastas, Sauces, and Wines at Mia Francesca Trattoria in North Hills

March 19th, 2014

MF DessertMF WineMarch is National Sauce Month and we are ready for everyone across the Triangle to enjoy the very best in Northern Italian sauces and marinades. Our award winning kitchen staff at Mia Francesca Trattoria always adds just the right sauces to our delicious farm to table lunch and dinner entrees. These sauces enhance the flavor of our fine foods and they blend perfectly with the meal to the delight of all our guests. For Tuscany Italian, sauces can truly define fresh food and are essential to our daily menu.  Everything from our finest homemade tomato sauce to our delicious marinades, we are noted for defining all of our sauces in very unique ways.

Let’s look at two of our special pasta dishes, each with distinctive sauces, and Justin Harkey, our General Manager, will recommend a wine that complements each one. Sauces play an important role in deciding the perfect wine pairing.

First, our very popular Spaghetti alla Bolognese features beef, veal, and pork as well as fresh herbs, tomato basil sauce, and Parmigiano Reggiano.  Red sauces always pair well with red wines.  We recommend our Cabernet Sauvignon, named after both the special grape and the wine it produces.  The primary taste of this excellent wine is a flavorful black current, but other overtones may include blackberry and mint.  Since Cabernets are very hearty and rich, this means they go best with our tomato-based sauces.  Mia Francesca Trattoria has four superb Cabernet Sauvignon wine selections for you to choose from every day.

Second, our delicious Pollo salsa Bianca features a farm-fresh grilled chicken breast, garlic, white wine, Alfredo cream sauce, Parmigiano, and linguini pasta. Pinot Grigio is a leaner style Italian white wine that pairs well with our cream sauces.  It has a smooth, almost silk-like flavor that leaves a wonderful impression with the most particular of connoisseurs. Mia Francesca offers two Pinot Grigio selections, both produced in the vineyards of Veneto, Italy: La Macine and Ca’ Stella.

Complete your dining experience with our chocolate sauce-covered dessert choice. Our guests love our Profiteroles, delicately toasted cream puffs filled with pistachio gelato.  They are drizzled with yummy chocolate sauce on top.  At Mia Francesca Trattoria, our pasta, sauce, and wine are just divine with or without our wonderful desserts.

Take advantage of the last two weeks in March to explore our entrees, the various sauces and their individual flavors with each visit. You find our eatery in Midtown-Raleigh at North Hills along with great shopping boutiques and more; in one of the best areas in the Triangle to stop, visit, eat and shop.

As anyone knows as they visit our restaurant, Midtown Raleigh offers the best of everything right here in North Hills. We ask that you drop by the North Hills Guest Services (also the Coldwell Banker HPW sales office), between Comfortable Soles and Varsity Men’s Wear, and get your North Hills Gift Card today. You can use it at almost any North Hills store, restaurant or salon including Mia Francesca Trattoria. Available in denominations up to $500, these gifts are perfect for any occasion.

No Need to be 100% Irish to Love Mia Francesca in Midtown Raleigh

March 11th, 2014

Capture corned beefEvery one of us loves having a little “luck of the Irish” following us around, especially when March 17 is right around the corner. As we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day across Raleigh and the Triangle, Mia Francesca’s Executive Chef Zach VanGaasbeek shows us in a “from Francesca’s Table”  video how to make the most traditional of St. Paddy’s meals, Corned Beef and Cabbage.  While Mia Francesca Trattoria has a fine reputation for classic Tuscan Italian cuisine, we know there is no need to be 100% Irish to celebrate and enjoy a fine holiday-themed dinner.

Chef Zach rewrites the old-style recipe of deliciously tender corned beef combining a flavorful Irish lager like Harp or Murphy with water, fresh vegetables, peppercorn, spices, potatoes and garden-fresh cabbage for a completely traditional spin on the most popular of Irish meals. The recipe is sure to put a smile on everyone’s face this upcoming holiday. Chef Zach suggests, for full enjoyment, pairing this definitive meal with an Irish IPA. We suggest a bottle of O’Hara’s or Porterhouse to complete the experience. As we have proven with this fabulous spin on the Irish classic, Mia Francesca Trattoria has a fine reputation for classic Tuscan Italian cuisine, yet we have a little leprechaun in us as well.

Be sure to wear green across the Triangle on Monday to celebrate the honor of Saint Patrick, and of course carry one of those famous and very lucky four-leaf shamrocks. As an Italian restaurant, we agree with the Irish that authentic European cuisine simply tastes the best! Stop by and enjoy a “pint” or two at our comfortable bar before settling in for dinner.

Finally, we recognize the importance of honoring St. Patrick, the most famous saint of Ireland, and celebrating the Irish and Irish-American heritage every March 17. The old Irish Blessing, “May your home always be too small to hold all of your friends” rings true as we head to one of the Triangle’s most popular holidays, so make your reservations early since our restaurant simply cannot accommodate that many happy and fun-loving Irish all at once.

Our Monday Wine Special (50% off all wines) from 11:30 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. on St. Patty’s Day will make everyone at the table green with envy.

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day everyone!

**

Stop by Monday March 17th and enjoy the good times!

Make your reservations early for our popular Easter Brunch and Lunch Menu from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Easter Sunday, April 20th, 2014.

In historic and picturesque Italy, it is often center stage as the main dish of the masses and the rich elite, featured on village dining tables from Tuscany to Sicily.
