Celebrate New Years Eve in Midtown Raleigh

Monday, December 22nd, 2014

new year clock DT 43053064

The Holiday Season is the most wonderful time of the year for family and for friends. Christmas is fast approaching and many of us are looking forward to New Year’s Eve as well and the year-end festivities. It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of 2014, and beginning 2015. With so many plans, reflections, and resolutions to make, December 31 is a day filled with great new feelings, awesome food, fun conversation, and dinner. Mia Francesca offers our delightful, relaxing New Year’s Eve dinner just for two or for the crowd you love to be around to celebrate 2015.

At Mia Francesca Trattoria, our authentic Northern Italian cuisine offers the freshest farm and sea to table experience in the Triangle. Located at North Hills in Midtown Raleigh (exit 8 440 the Beltline), our rustic Italian restaurant allows guests to savor the traditions of the Tuscany region of Italy without having to travel abroad. We invite our holiday guests to enjoy our New Year’s Eve festivities and start the New Year right!

We recommend kicking the afternoon and evening off with one of our delicious appetizers. When New Year’s Eve guests ask for our fresh Prince Edward Island Mussels, they have the option of having them served with garlic and a spicy marinara sauce or with a garlic white wine sauce. Either way, they are a Raleigh favorite!

For the main course this New Year’s Eve night, we have many delicious items on our dinner menu. One local favorite is our Filetto e Polenta Fritto. This dish includes our savory grilled beef tenderloin, sage brown butter polenta cakes (an Italian delicacy), sautéed winter squash, charred onions, and herb butter.

As the countdown on the clock continues to midnight, try our Apple Crostata dessert featuring local farm fresh Granny Smith apples in a flaky pastry crust. We serve this warm with salted caramel gelato and vanilla crème anglaise. Sip our wonderful Illy brand coffee choices including Cappuccino, Espresso, Espresso Macchiato, Caramel Macchiato, and Mocha-cino.

As Father Time’s hourglass runs out of 2014 sand, it is out with the old and in with the new. Make your New Year’s resolution to dine more often at Mia Francesca Trattoria. And say cheers to more treasured memories with loved ones, at the best restaurant in the Triangle. Make your New Year’s reservations today!

Please consider joining us for Christmas Eve as well. Here is an offering of our menu on December 24th.

Savor the Excellence of Italian Wines in the Triangle

Monday, July 21st, 2014

foodiesfeed.com_2014-DSC_0012Wine aficionados love our authentic Italian wine selection at Mia Francesca Trattoria. Our restaurant is focused on being the best Italian restaurant in the Triangle. The Northern Italian fare experienced is a favorite of everyone who visits our convenient location in the heart of Raleigh’s Midtown in North Hills. With respect to our appealing wines, we emphasize the top two wine classifications in Italian wine labeling: DOCG and DOC. We only serve the finest wines available and combine it with our locally and fresh grown gourmet cuisine.

Let’s discuss the two distinctive acronyms involving wine quality and labeling:

DOCG is really the abbreviation for “Demonimazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita” which translates from Italian as the highest quality first-class wines available. These superb wines must pass several taste tests before bottling. There are twenty DOCG wine regions in Italy:

  • Northeast—Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige, and Friuli-Venezia
  • North and Northwest—Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Piedmont, Liguria, and Aosta Valley
  • Central—Tuscany, Lazio, Umbria, Marche, Abruzzo, and Molise
  • South—Campania, Basilicata, Puglia, Calabria, and the islands of Sicily and Sardinia

DOC is “Demonimazione di Origine Controllata” which translates to wines that are made grown based on the highest specific quality regulations. The Italian wine designations help to preserve the finest traditions unique to their respective regions. There are more than three-hundred DOC’s in Italy. As we all know, the country is famous for its beautiful and bountiful vineyards.

For trivia buffs, in Italy the name of each wine typically comes from the vineyard where it is harvested, but never the grape. At Mia Francesca Trattoria, our selective wine list is 100% pleasure and served with distinction. After your meal or appetizer in our bar, be sure to enjoy our heavenly desserts. We help make every guest have the warmest memories with each dining experience.

Do you have a large group? Our private dining areas accommodate for special events such as birthdays, wedding rehearsals, anniversaries, and bar/bat mitzvahs. For elegant fine dining in a rustic atmosphere, Mia Francesca Trattoria is the restaurant of choice in the Triangle. We welcome everyone to make a reservation and prepare to enjoy every moment!

Cheers to National Martini Day in the Triangle!

Monday, June 16th, 2014

KEKO64 MartiniIt is hot and balmy this week and it is the perfect time for the perfect drink. Did you know that National Martini Day is Thursday June 19? At Mia Francesca Trattoria, the Northern Italian restaurant of choice in the Triangle, we aim to please with our delicious and relaxing martini selections.

In recent history, some of the most famous martini lovers include John D. Rockefeller, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Frank Sinatra. The fictional British Secret Service Agent James Bond, 007 himself, always asked for his martinis to be “shaken, not stirred”—an enduring movie catch phrase. Interestingly enough, for good health, a shaken martini produces significantly higher antioxidant properties than a stirred one!

In 1863, an Italian vermouth maker started marketing their product under the brand name of Martini. This product is still available today, but better known as Martini & Rossi. We believe the most expensive martini is at the Algonquin Hotel in New York City. It costs a cool $10,000! The garnish is a beautiful and very radiant cut diamond! It is certainly true in this case; a diamond might indeed be a martini lover’s best friend.

A well-made martini is a cocktail made with gin (vodka can be substituted), vermouth, and garnished with an olive or lemon twist. Over the years, the martini has become one of the best-known mixed alcoholic beverages that we serve here in the Triangle. For example, our very popular Pear Tree Martini features Absolut Pear, St. Germaine, and lemon-lime juice that is served straight-up!

Martinis pair very well with our cheeses, breads and meats. Our garlic toast, Bruschetta alla Romana, features marinated tomatoes, mozzarella, and olive oil. It is a perfect choice with your cool drink selection. Another favorite is our Meat and Cheese Board, Chef Zack’s selection of artisan cheese and charcuterie, olives, fruit jam, and ciabatta crostini.

As we quickly head to July, we picture our guests sitting comfortably in our expansive outside patio as the sun sets on a warm summer night. In fact, many of our guests will stop and say that the perfect pairing for one of our delectable martinis is another. Who are we to argue? Our bartenders can create the martini of choice, from the Dirty, to the Gibson, to the Bone Dry. It simple is a matter of personal taste.

Our authentic Tuscany Northern Italian cuisine is a pleasure to enjoy with warm summer breezes. This is why our guests love both the experience and the location. We welcome you to visit and enjoy a wonderful martini with lunch or dinner. Make summer the time to appreciate and enjoy a cool drink served by our skilled mixologists. We aim to please. We firmly believe that every day is a great day to visit Mia Francesca Trattoria. Join us Thursday for National Martini Day.
