The Best Pizza in the Triangle is Closer than You Think

Monday, February 23rd, 2015

Mia F PizzaBalancing the harmony of cheeses and flavor creates traditional pizza that makes the difference. And Mia Francesca Trattoria, the Northern-Italian restaurant located in Raleigh, makes it like it’s been delivered straight from Mother Italy. Our location for Tuscany Italian fare and great pizza is just 20 minutes from most everywhere in the Triangle, in North Hills off 440. Pizza lovers who are always on the lookout for some of the best pizza in the Triangle choose Mia Francesca for traditional pizza pie with generous toppings.

We stay true to our Northern Italian roots in every slice as we assemble the ingredients in our award winning kitchen. Our Executive Chef and his team simply prepare our house made pizza as a truly decadent creation that puts a huge smile on every guest.

Originally cooked in Naples, Italy, today’s Mia Francesca pizza evolved from historic flat bread dishes first baked back in the 1800’s. It is interesting to note that pizza became very popular shortly after World War II, as veterans stationed in Italy returned home to the U.S.A. introducing their hometowns to this new found Italian delight! Now, in 2015, pizza is so popular, that on any given day in the United States, 13 % of the population consumes it.

Mia Francesca pizza has everyone’s seal of approval, and it comes complete with a scrumptious crust, blankets of fresh melted cheese, and house-made dough created in small batches; each pizza is fully loaded with homemade tomato sauce, meats, and vegetables. All meld together to make personal pizza history for each and every table.

Mia Francesca Trattoria offers a variety of high-quality pizzas beloved by every guest:

  • Our Diavola Pizza features eggplant, castelvetrano olives, capers, chilies, tomato sauce, and smoked mozzarella.
  • Our Fungi pizza has wild mushrooms, ricotta cheese, thyme, arugula, and truffle oil.
  • Our Margherita features plum tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella.
  • Our Napoletana has arugula, cherry tomatoes, garlic, extra virgin olive oil, provolone, and shaved Parmesan.
  • Our Quattro Stagioni features prosciutto, artichoke, mushrooms, olive, and egg.
  • Our Salsiccia Pizza comes with juicy fennel sausage, sundried tomatoes, goat cheese, and fresh mozzarella.

For our guests who simply cannot decide from all the wonderful selections, it is perfectly okay to order a personal creation with any and every fresh ingredient available. Toppings include sausage, olives, mushrooms, artichoke, spinach, meatballs, onion, broccoli, anchovy, goat cheese, gorgonzola, mozzarella, Swiss, Fontina, roasted peppers, and eggplant.

The best pizza in the Triangle is closer than anyone thinks. The choices offered by Mia Francesca continue the tradition only found in Midtown Raleigh. The good times are right here in North Hills.

Savor the Triangle’s Tastiest Thanksgiving Day Feast Right Here in Raleigh

Monday, October 27th, 2014

thanksgiving tradition turkeyEveryone here in the Triangle loves turkey. It is the historic Thanksgiving staple on every North Carolina table. At the very first Thanksgiving in 1621, it was one of the only meats readily available and plentiful enough to provide continuous meals for the event that lasted several days. The Pilgrims and Puritans and the local peoples celebrated the rich bountiful harvest produced near Plymouth (now present day Massachusetts).

Speaking of traditions, 2014 is the 70th Annual WRAL Raleigh Christmas Parade that always, very surprisingly, happens on the Saturday before Thanksgiving each and every year in Downtown Raleigh. 65,000 people from across the Triangle around the 1.4 mile parade route will be cheering and looking for Santa Claus. There is time that Saturday to watch the 2.5 hour morning parade which starts at 9:40 a.m. and then dine with us for lunch or dinner on the way home. You can discuss which floats were the best while enjoying our delicious, farm fresh weekend cuisine.

At Mia Francesca Trattoria, we offer a bountiful Thanksgiving Day Buffet on the holiday itself, Thursday November 27. This is our annual Thanksgiving Day Feast here at North Hills in Midtown Raleigh and the harvest is plentiful and the celebration all day from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.

All the time-honored fresh holiday fixings will be present in our Thanksgiving Day Buffet:

  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Mashed North Carolina Sweet Potatoes
  • Traditional Stuffing
  • Green Bean Casserole
  • Braised Turkey Leg, Roasted Turkey Breast
  • Honey Baked Ham

We have it all!

Our Thanksgiving Day Buffet also features a wonderful Fresh Fruit Display as well as our farm to table Mixed Seasonal Vegetables.

Mia Francesca Trattoria also presents:

  • Autumn Salad: mixed greens, local apples, pears, candied walnuts, goat cheese, apple cider vinaigrette
  • Caesar Salad: hearts of romaine, garlic croutons, shave Parmigiano Reggiano
  • Antipasti Display: imported cheeses, charcuterie, marinated artichoke hearts, seasonal jams, spiced pecans, and herbed crostini roasted bell peppers

Of course, we are a Northern Italian restaurant, and pasta lovers will enjoy our Pasta con Mozzarella with penne pasta, tomato basil sauce, parmesan, and fresh mozzarella; as well as our Pasta con Pollo with grilled chicken, penne pasta, pine nuts, and a smooth basil cream sauce. Dessert lovers will love our almost countless divine dessert selections! Let Mia Francesca do the cooking and cleaning so making precious holiday memories with family and friends are easier than ever.

Make your Thanksgiving reservation today so all of the family and long-time friends can come to Raleigh and enjoy the North Hills Holiday experience! Call us today!

Cheers to National Martini Day in the Triangle!

Monday, June 16th, 2014

KEKO64 MartiniIt is hot and balmy this week and it is the perfect time for the perfect drink. Did you know that National Martini Day is Thursday June 19? At Mia Francesca Trattoria, the Northern Italian restaurant of choice in the Triangle, we aim to please with our delicious and relaxing martini selections.

In recent history, some of the most famous martini lovers include John D. Rockefeller, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Frank Sinatra. The fictional British Secret Service Agent James Bond, 007 himself, always asked for his martinis to be “shaken, not stirred”—an enduring movie catch phrase. Interestingly enough, for good health, a shaken martini produces significantly higher antioxidant properties than a stirred one!

In 1863, an Italian vermouth maker started marketing their product under the brand name of Martini. This product is still available today, but better known as Martini & Rossi. We believe the most expensive martini is at the Algonquin Hotel in New York City. It costs a cool $10,000! The garnish is a beautiful and very radiant cut diamond! It is certainly true in this case; a diamond might indeed be a martini lover’s best friend.

A well-made martini is a cocktail made with gin (vodka can be substituted), vermouth, and garnished with an olive or lemon twist. Over the years, the martini has become one of the best-known mixed alcoholic beverages that we serve here in the Triangle. For example, our very popular Pear Tree Martini features Absolut Pear, St. Germaine, and lemon-lime juice that is served straight-up!

Martinis pair very well with our cheeses, breads and meats. Our garlic toast, Bruschetta alla Romana, features marinated tomatoes, mozzarella, and olive oil. It is a perfect choice with your cool drink selection. Another favorite is our Meat and Cheese Board, Chef Zack’s selection of artisan cheese and charcuterie, olives, fruit jam, and ciabatta crostini.

As we quickly head to July, we picture our guests sitting comfortably in our expansive outside patio as the sun sets on a warm summer night. In fact, many of our guests will stop and say that the perfect pairing for one of our delectable martinis is another. Who are we to argue? Our bartenders can create the martini of choice, from the Dirty, to the Gibson, to the Bone Dry. It simple is a matter of personal taste.

Our authentic Tuscany Northern Italian cuisine is a pleasure to enjoy with warm summer breezes. This is why our guests love both the experience and the location. We welcome you to visit and enjoy a wonderful martini with lunch or dinner. Make summer the time to appreciate and enjoy a cool drink served by our skilled mixologists. We aim to please. We firmly believe that every day is a great day to visit Mia Francesca Trattoria. Join us Thursday for National Martini Day.

Monday, May 5th, 2014

Mom DT 30267086Did you know the year 2014 marks the 100th anniversary of Mother’s Day as an official day of recognition? President Woodrow Wilson signed a holiday measure naming the second Sunday of May a day for “public expression of our love and reverence for the mothers of our country” in 1914.

Moms and America have a great history! Our best memories often contain the thoughts of the wonderful lady who gave birth to us, comforted us when we were sick or sad, and gave us advice as we grew. Mother’s Day is a special time of honor.

It is with this very popular holiday in mind that Mia Francesca Trattoria celebrates this very special event with a marvelous Mother’s Day Brunch.

Your family will appreciate our delicious authentic Northern Italian cuisine. And we offer farm to table freshness with every aspect of the meal prepared by our classically trained culinary chefs. Come enjoy unique one-of-a-kind offerings in our friendly and rustic atmosphere.

In Italy, just like in the Triangle, Mom is the heart of everything. Much of life centers around the family dining together. The deepest ties of love and friendship are developed and strengthened while enjoying conversation, laughter and togetherness. Grow closer together celebrating Mother’s Day at Mia Francesca Trattoria. You will love the experience.

Our Mother’s Day Brunch includes these four wonderfully delicious entrées. Our Salmon comes with wild mushrooms, local green garlic, chopped tomatoes, and balsamic. Our savory Chicken Piccata features pan-seared chicken breasts, capers, lemon juice, garlic, and white wine sauce. Our succulent Roasted Pork Loin Pancetta comes with Spanish onions, thyme, garlic, and pork jus. And our tender Prime Rib comes sliced to order with horseradish cream and natural jus.

Make every day a holiday with us. No matter the occasion, we have several private dining areas available for celebrations and events that include:

  • Wedding rehearsal dinners
  • Family reunions
  • Birthday parties

  • Bar Mitzvahs
  • Baptisms
  • First Communions

  • Quarterly Meetings

Our outdoor patio is delightful to use during this time of year. Mom and the whole family will love you when you suggest everyone dine at Mia Francesca Trattoria!

Fun, Family and Gelato at Mia Francesca in North Hills

Wednesday, January 15th, 2014

rome negli anna cinquanta a monte carotto wikemedia.orgEveryone in the Triangle knows that there are a wide variety of kid-friendly places here in Raleigh area. Each restaurant typically offers quick food, tokens, crayons, and a fast experience. Here in North Hills, we want each family member dining with us to enjoy great Northern Italian food, great service and a simple family focus that welcomes children at every table. We know that each and every day, the main ingredient at Mia Francesca in North Hills is always you!

Children who dine with us love our awesome choices on the Kid’s Menu, which features our authentic Italian pasta, our “made from scratch” pizza, and our deliciously tender chicken.

If the kids like savory pasta and what youngster does not, Mia Francesca prepares it one of three tasty ways; and it’s always their choice. They just pick a wonderful flavor like rich butter, homemade tomato sauce, or subtle cream sauce and then sit back, twirl the fork and love it. If they are in the mood for pizza, each child can have a special and unique pie with cheese, mushrooms, or sausage.  Our moist and delicious chicken is always a huge favorite and comes with the choice of either fries or broccoli. Every kid’s meal arrives at tableside with the choice of a soft drink, milk, or juice.

Finally every child finishes their meal with a free scoop of gelato.  Gelato, as many know, is the Italian word for “ice cream”.  We offer special varieties of this wonderful treat made in authentic Mia Francesca style; very unique and traditionally Italian. Our gelato consists of milk, cream, various sugars, and flavoring usually blended with our fresh fruit and nut purees.

It is kid trivia time! The Florentine cook, Bernardo Buontalenti, is said to have invented modern ice cream in 1565, as he presented his recipe and his innovative refrigerating techniques to Catherine de’ Medici, an Italian Duchess who then introduced it to France after she married the French King, Henry II. Soon the news and tastes of gelato spread to the rest of Europe.

It is very interesting to note that the popularity of gelato increased in the 1920’s and 1930’s in the northern Italian city of Varese, where the very first gelato cart was pushed down cobble stone streets.  The popularity of Mia Francesca’s version of the famous gelato in Raleigh is amazing!  Come see and then taste first-hand why every youngster loves dining at our always kid-friendly Northern Italian restaurant, Mia Francesca Trattoria.
