Monday, September 22nd, 2014

Apps MFT Meat and Cheese BoardFor the people who love food, live in the Triangle and surrounding regions, and are feeling nostalgic for the classic Italian cuisine we have all seen on television and in Hollywood movies; they should look no further than Mia Francesca Trattoria in Midtown Raleigh. We serve our meals and appetizers as “come hungry” portions delivered tableside by smiling faces with our unique Northern Italian Tuscany twist! The only thing missing is Mom, and she is welcome as well!

Our classic, tried and true Italian starters include our well received Calamari Fritti; fried calamari served with a spicy marinara sauce. Everyone has to try our Bruschetta alla Romana, which features marinated tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and olive oil melted over crisp homemade garlic toast. Our Meat and Cheese Board is another wonderful favorite we have all seen at the dinner table in an array of old movies, and our Executive Chef Zack selects just the right artisan cheese and charcuterie along with the plump olives, fruit jam, and ciabatta crostini.

For those in the mood for a farm fresh salad, everyone enjoys our definitive Caesar Salad with its fresh hearts of romaine lettuce, garlic, croutons, shaved Parmigiano, and roasted bell peppers. After appetizers and salad, get ready for one of our classically pleasing dinner entrees.

Our authentic Italian pizza looks and tastes so much better that the ones on T.V. We offer a half dozen types of pizzas, including our Napoletana with arugula, cherry tomatoes, garlic, extra virgin olive oil, provolone, and shaved Parmesan.

We also offer our guests the option of choosing their own pizza toppings, which include these fresh vegetables:

  • Olives
  • Mushrooms
  • Artichoke
  • Spinach
  • Onion
  • Broccoli
  • Roasted Peppers
  • Eggplant

Our meats and cheeses make the pizza pie classically delicious:

  • Sausage
  • Meatballs
  • Anchovy
  • Goat cheese
  • Gorgonzola
  • Mozzarella
  • Swiss
  • Fontina

At Mia Francesca Trattoria, we are all about perfecting the classics. In addition to our Italian pizza, another classic Italian dish is probably the most recognizable of all! Our Spaghetti and Meatballs in a delicious tomato basil sauce is one to remember.

Our Pollo al Parmesan has breaded chicken breasts, tomato basil sauce, mozzarella, parmesan, and Linguini agil e olio. And the newest gluten-free classic Italian choice is our Penne Aglio Olio with Quinoa gluten-free penne sautéed with extra virgin olive oil, fresh garlic, diced tomatoes, and sautéed spinach.

In the heart of the Triangle at North Hills, we are your rustic Italian restaurant of choice. Our classic Italian cuisine is divine. We should make a movie!

4 Ways Fresh North Carolina Heirloom Tomatoes are Served Italian Style

Monday, August 18th, 2014

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Back in the 1500’s, Italians started growing tomatoes for their raw and natural beauty. Typically found in flower beds in their earliest history, there are several delicious varieties grown today, all known for their intense flavor and each one carrying interesting names such as the Italian Pear and the Pantanara. Here in North Carolina, our delicious garden grown tomatoes are just as tasty and superb as their cousins in Italy.

As everyone knows in the Triangle, Mia Francesca Trattoria selects only the freshest of ingredients for every one of our entrees, appetizers and desserts. Here in August as we approach the Labor Day weekend, we offer four late summer menu choices that feature our North Carolina grown farm fresh heirloom tomatoes.

Our Northern Italian restaurant, nestled in the very popular North Hills section of Midtown Raleigh, is very easy to locate and visit. We pride ourselves for our culinary excellence as one of the best Tuscany Italian restaurants in the Triangle. We are also very proud members of the Got to Be NC Agriculture Program. As members of the prestigious program, we support our local North Carolina growers and deliver that promise of farm to table freshness to each and every guest.

Here are four summer themed entrees sure to make everyone smile and enjoy:

  • Our Insalata Panzanella is tastefully showcased with juicy heirloom tomatoes, along with red onion, arugula, herbed croutons, red wine vinaigrette, basil, fresh mozzarella, and aged balsamic. Our guests love this classically natural Italian salad.
  • Our Halibut Panzanella features pan seared halibut, heirloom tomatoes, red onions, herbed croutons, arugula, red wine vinaigrette, basil, and Saba. This is another palate pleasing Mia Francesca Trattoria meal surrounded with fresh tomatoes.
  • Our Heirloom Tomato-Pesto Pizza is an authentic Italian pizza with local farm fresh tomatoes, basil pesto, garlic, oregano, Parmigiano, olive oil, and sea salt. It is interesting to note that Pesto is a definitive Italian sauce that originated from Genoa in the Liguria region of Northern Italy.
  • Our Heirloom Tomato Panino presents Italian ciabatta bread cut horizontally and filled with fresh local heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, applewood smoked bacon seasoned with basil, olive oil, sea salt, and lemon aioli. Our guests really enjoy our satisfyingly earthy Italian Panini.

We recommend pairing any of our tomato-themed selections with a Pinot Grigio Italian wine. We offer Le Macine or Ca’ Stella, both complementary wine choices come from Veneto, Italy. Make your reservations today to enjoy our farm fresh heirloom tomatoes in one of these divine dishes at Mia Francesca Trattoria.

From all of us to all of you: “Molto delizioso” in Italian means “very delicious”! Stop in and find out why our guests love Mia Francesca!

The Freshest Fish in the Triangle Prepared the Italian Way

Monday, June 9th, 2014

http://www.dreamstime.com/stock-photos-vintage-fresh-fish-seafood-stamps-image25036883Where can the most die-hard food lover here in North Carolina find the freshest fish? At Mia Francesca Trattoria, we pride ourselves in serving only the freshest of fare. Our produce is farm-to-table garden-crisp and our fish is dock-to-dish fresh! We are the largest restaurant in Midtown Raleigh at North Hills and our sources supply us with the best fish, meat, vegetables and dairy products.

Did you realize that eating fish is very healthy for you? It is an excellent source of high-quality protein, vitamins and minerals (including potassium, selenium and vitamin B12). The abundant content of omega-3 fatty acids in fish receives the most attention by doctors and the press. It is good to know that the fish we serve at Mia Francesca is not only fresh and delicious, but nutritious as well!

Our fish dishes are always extremely popular and our guests enjoy our healthy entrees that both taste and look good. Our Salmon con Farro is grilled salmon, ancient grain farro, radiccio, spring onions, citrus, grilled lemon vinaigrette, and salsa verde. Our Striped Bass con Farro, is pan seared striped bass that we serve with ancient grain faro, radiccio, spring onions, citrus, grilled lemon vinaigrette, and salsa verde. Our Salmon Asparagi con Granchi features grilled salmon, blue crab, wild mushrooms, fresh asparagus, sun dried tomatoes, white wine, garlic, lemon and balsamic; it is the best of blend of fish and veggies.

Our wine list is extensive and we recommend pairing a rose wine with your salmon. The dry, mineral driven character and typically acute acidity in rose wines make for an exceptionally accommodating salmon pairing partner.

Our Syrah wine collection has some delightful rose wine bottles:

  • Dog Ridge “The Pup” McLaren Vale, Australia
  • Wakefield Estate, 2009, Clare Valley, Australia
  • Casa Rivas Gran Reserva, 2009, Argentina

We get our fish fresh from the local markets. Guests can relax and enjoy warm conversations with family and friends while our award-winning kitchen does an amazing job preparing these delectable entrees. Be assured that everyone who visits Mia Francesca in North Hills Midtown Raleigh can expect nothing less than the freshest of fish with every culinary experience. Make reservations today as we reel in your glorious meal!
