Mia Francesca Trattoria, our Northern Italian restaurant located in Midtown Raleigh North Hills, suggests an array of wine pairings with many items found on our menu; from our savory chicken to our seasoned grilled fish and palate-pleasing pasta dishes.

Our Louis Jadot Pouilly Fuisse Chardonnay from Burgundy, France perfectly complements the following Mia Francesca Trattoria chicken entrees:

  • Pollo salsa Bianca: grilled chicken breast, garlic, white wine, Alfredo cream sauce, Parmigiano, and linguini pasta
  • Pollo Arrosto alla Romano: roasted chicken, white wine, garlic, chili flakes, rosemary herb roasted potatoes

Mia Francesca features two Pinot Grigio Italian bottled wines from Veneto. Our Le Macine and Ca’ Stella pair splendidly with our two delectable grilled fish entrees:

  • NC Trout: grilled North Carolina trout, cauliflower puree, tri-color cauliflower, golden raisins, baby spinach, and aged balsamic
  • Salmon Caponata: grilled salmon with farm fresh winter vegetables, eggplant, capers, fennel, olive oil, balsamic, and tomato

Both our St. Francis Old Vine Zinfandel from Sonoma, California and our Castella Sinnino Chianti Riserva pair well with the following pasta dishes:

  • Classic Spaghetti and Meatballs in a tasty tomato basil sauce
  • Penne Pastore: fennel sausage, sundried tomatoes, goat cheese, and tomato basil sauce over our penne pasta
  • Pollo al Parmesan features breaded chicken breasts, tomato basil sauce, mozzarella, parmesan, and Linguini agli e olio

Remember, pairing and weight go hand-in-hand; lighter wines with lighter fare, robust wines with robust fare, and so on. Savor the Triangle’s Tastiest Thanksgiving Day Feast Right Here in Raleigh

At the very first Thanksgiving in 1621, it was one of the only meats readily available and plentiful enough to provide continuous meals for the event that lasted several days. The Pilgrims and Puritans and the local peoples celebrated the rich bountiful harvest produced near Plymouth (now present day Massachusetts).

Speaking of traditions, 2014 is the 70th Annual WRAL Raleigh Christmas Parade that always, very surprisingly, happens on the Saturday before Thanksgiving each and every year in Downtown Raleigh. 65,000 people from across the Triangle around the 1.4 mile parade route will be cheering and looking for Santa Claus. There is time that Saturday to watch the 2.5 hour morning parade which starts at 9:40 a.m. and then dine with us for lunch or dinner on the way home. You can discuss which floats were the best while enjoying our delicious, farm fresh weekend cuisine.
