The Best Wine and Dine Experience in Raleigh

Monday, August 11th, 2014

MFT wine bottles MFT Wikipedia Vineyards Chianti RegionDid you know that Italy is the top five for the most popular international tourist destinations in the world? That is no surprise to Mia Francesca Trattoria, the North Hills restaurant that features the best Tuscany-Italian cuisine in the Triangle. We are located next to the landmark Renaissance Raleigh North Hills Hotel in Midtown Raleigh. Our culinary focus is a fresh farm and sea to table daily menu that is so authentic that many of our guests are convinced they are dining in foothills of Northern Italy.

In the home country of Italy, Tuscany is one of the most popular regions for tourists, locals, fine wines and delicious food. Tuscany is a large region in the Northwest that features a varied landscape from the beautiful foothills and mountains to the tranquil seaside. It’s travel attractions include historic cities like Florence where the arts, great wines, and spectacular local foods are the cornerstone of what the area is all about, from the medieval hill towns to the beautiful countryside.

The Chianti Classico wine region in Tuscany, a popular Italian vacation destination, lies between the larger cities of Florence and Siena. The Chianti region has picturesque villages, wineries, and gorgeous landscapes.

Mia Francesca Trattoria offers three delightful and unforgettable Chianti red wine selections from our wine list:

  • Castello Sinnino Chianti Riserva
  • Ruffino Chianti Reserva Tan Label (2010)
  • Amadeo Chianti (2010)

Montepulciano is a beautiful walled city in Tuscany, built on a sloping and narrow limestone ridge. Montepulciano has one of the most impressive main squares in Tuscany and has many beautiful Renaissance buildings. The wines produced here are phenomenal. Wine lovers here in Raleigh can enjoy our superb Tenuta del Priore Campotino Montepulciano (2010).

After choosing a fine wine tableside, please select one of our delectable appetizers. For lunch or dinner, we offer the tastiest authentic Italian pizza and most heavenly authentic Italian pasta. Complete your epicurean experience with one of our divine desserts including our Dessert Platter; it is filled with Executive Chef Zach’s selection of the day’s temptations to share with up to ten people. No matter how you slice it, we love pleasing our guests with true Italian fanfare.

As the lazy hazy days of summer slowly draw to a close, enjoy our outdoor eating area and spend some time with us contemplating the day and the season. Treat yourself to the best. Treat yourself to Mia Francesca Trattoria in North Hills!

Pastas, Sauces, and Wines at Mia Francesca Trattoria in North Hills

Wednesday, March 19th, 2014

MF DessertMF WineMarch is National Sauce Month and we are ready for everyone across the Triangle to enjoy the very best in Northern Italian sauces and marinades. Our award winning kitchen staff at Mia Francesca Trattoria always adds just the right sauces to our delicious farm to table lunch and dinner entrees. These sauces enhance the flavor of our fine foods and they blend perfectly with the meal to the delight of all our guests. For Tuscany Italian, sauces can truly define fresh food and are essential to our daily menu.  Everything from our finest homemade tomato sauce to our delicious marinades, we are noted for defining all of our sauces in very unique ways.

Let’s look at two of our special pasta dishes, each with distinctive sauces, and Justin Harkey, our General Manager, will recommend a wine that complements each one. Sauces play an important role in deciding the perfect wine pairing.

First, our very popular Spaghetti alla Bolognese features beef, veal, and pork as well as fresh herbs, tomato basil sauce, and Parmigiano Reggiano.  Red sauces always pair well with red wines.  We recommend our Cabernet Sauvignon, named after both the special grape and the wine it produces.  The primary taste of this excellent wine is a flavorful black current, but other overtones may include blackberry and mint.  Since Cabernets are very hearty and rich, this means they go best with our tomato-based sauces.  Mia Francesca Trattoria has four superb Cabernet Sauvignon wine selections for you to choose from every day.

Second, our delicious Pollo salsa Bianca features a farm-fresh grilled chicken breast, garlic, white wine, Alfredo cream sauce, Parmigiano, and linguini pasta. Pinot Grigio is a leaner style Italian white wine that pairs well with our cream sauces.  It has a smooth, almost silk-like flavor that leaves a wonderful impression with the most particular of connoisseurs. Mia Francesca offers two Pinot Grigio selections, both produced in the vineyards of Veneto, Italy: La Macine and Ca’ Stella.

Complete your dining experience with our chocolate sauce-covered dessert choice. Our guests love our Profiteroles, delicately toasted cream puffs filled with pistachio gelato.  They are drizzled with yummy chocolate sauce on top.  At Mia Francesca Trattoria, our pasta, sauce, and wine are just divine with or without our wonderful desserts.

Take advantage of the last two weeks in March to explore our entrees, the various sauces and their individual flavors with each visit. You find our eatery in Midtown-Raleigh at North Hills along with great shopping boutiques and more; in one of the best areas in the Triangle to stop, visit, eat and shop.

As anyone knows as they visit our restaurant, Midtown Raleigh offers the best of everything right here in North Hills. We ask that you drop by the North Hills Guest Services (also the Coldwell Banker HPW sales office), between Comfortable Soles and Varsity Men’s Wear, and get your North Hills Gift Card today. You can use it at almost any North Hills store, restaurant or salon including Mia Francesca Trattoria. Available in denominations up to $500, these gifts are perfect for any occasion.
